This Wins Our Nod for Most Imaginative
Alternative Street Festival of the Decade
'In Argentina over the weekend, Buenos Aires held its annual Noches de las Liberias--Bookstore Night. The city closes a main avenue, and places sofas and chairs where cars and trucks normally idle. People with books from the many bookstores lining the avenue lounge in the seating, and a festival atmosphere replaces traffic.' NPR has the full story, which you can either read or listen to.

How wonderful! Would love to see this someplace near me.
Waiting to see it heralded by parades, church festivals, and inundated by touristas. That is a festival that would capture my imagination.
Probably won't happen, eh?
This is one of the first things I've heard about Buenos Aires that makes me think it would be fun to be there.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if American cities -- even if malls -- were to begin during this once or twice [I'm greedy] a year?
This is one of the more enchanting ideas I've ever come across, which seems appropriate for one of the world's most enchanting cities (or so I've read). And I think it will indeed catch on elsewhere as more people become aware of it. It just seems like a no-brainer to do once you hear about it.
That sounds like so much fun!!!
Maybe we can do something like that around here.
It would have to be in the summer if you wanted to sit out in the street and read....
I think that goes without saying in this wintry region, especially given the fact that today was the first real snow day of the year.
Yeah, no doubt!
On the other hand, if you feel like sitting outside in the snow and reading, please take a picture and send it to me, Alanna. I'll be sure to post that>
When it snows again, I just may take you up on that, John!
Okay, I'm counting on it then.
It's on! All we need is more snow, which I think may be coming this weekend!
I'll be sure to pull my toboggan out of the attic.
