WISP
The sins of a nation,
The sins of a man
intertwixt
intertwined
combined
into a rope the wisp of smoke
from the smoking gun
for a noose
upon which hung
seven souls lost.
Betrayed
What did they cry?
What did they think?
Did they scream for mercy,
did the little ones whimper in pain?
Did they cry for their mommy?
Was she already slain?
Did he speak to them softly,
Did he come from behind?
I hope I never understand
what went
through
his
mind.
