On Being Unencumbered
By Your Former Nonsense

'Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.'
--Ralph Waldo Emerson. You can review earlier mentions of him here.

Yeah, but "He who ignore nonsense is doomed to repeat it" ... Seriously, I know it's good advice but I've never even come close to following it. See? I just did it again.

Good point, Mike. I suppose this is like just about everything else: all things in moderation, and in balance.

I got ya. Now what about the Cavs? Thoughts, Mike? I have 20 free tickets to game 7 at the Q, should they beat the Magic tomorrow in game 6. I'd love to give them to readers, but I doubt there'd be any interest. Okay, that was just a very late April Fools joke...But I would be interested in your take on the Cavs after last night.

Good advise, if you can keep it. I know I generally fall short of this ideal.

Cavs? They've got to play the best 2 games of this season if they want to win the East.

We all fall short of most ideals, Miles. But then, the effort and journey are more important than the result, I suppose. As for the Cavs, what kind of chances do you give them? In the early going yesterday, they sure seemed to be the team we thought we knew all season. Just don't know which team will show up tomorrow.

Start serenely with a Diet Pepsi...there are days that are full of success and accomplishment that allow the bar to be set for the next day. The blunders and absurdities are good for future comic relief.

Make it a diet coke with lime, and I'm in full agreement, Lou.

Just saw your Cavs question. I'm too nervous to predict it. All I know is if everyone stands around watching LeBron like they've been doing we're going down. But I'm rooting.

Me too. Rooting & hoping.maybe even a little praying.

I suppose we should all read this one every single day. Thanks - I didn't have this one!

It would be an appropriate daily reminder. Especially the day after your basketball team continues its municipal sports agony.
