Awwww - you're too kind - but THANK YOU!
And I would have to say, seeds of civilization/civility...except in Donte's case.
Diane, I must have visited your blog 200 times and missed that great quote of his along the side, until finally noticing it this week. Lou, right you are: one of Abe's lasting contributions is to remind us that we're all human, and that we owe civility and respect even to those with whom we've just fought a war. By setting the example of respecting his southern enemies, he reminded us that no one is beyond our respect.
Great quote!
Fess up, Michelle: you like Lincoln and his sayings because he was about the same height as you.
Height ain't nothin' but a number.
We'll accept that. If you were one of my guy friends, I'd respond differently. Something along the lines of "spoken like a true shorty." But then, you're not really so short for a woman. And just about everyone seems short when compared to Lincoln. Remember, at 6'-4" he was more like a 7-footer would be today, given the much shorter average height of his era.
