Clifton: Casino Gambling
More Diversion than Meat

'I honestly don't think it (casino gambling) is the answer. I think honestly it is a diversion from stick-to-your-ribs jobs...It's so appealing but it may divert our attention from meaningful economic development. To me, it's more like a head on the beer than the beer itself.'

--Plain Dealer editor Doug Clifton, speaking at an all-PD media panel at Landerhaven in January. Next Tuesday, at the same venue, editorial page editor Brent Larkin and uber-lawyer Fred Nance will take up the same subject in a not-to-be-missed luncheon event.

Good. Perhaps we can sit together. And since you're skinny as a rail, I might just be able to grab double dessert, yours and mine. Seriously, though, hope to see you next week.
