Carlo Takes Note Of
Cindy's Anniversary

I loved this story for its sedimentary layers of personal connections. It was written by an old friend and colleague, about an old friend and colleague (about whom we've written often here), and it appeared in a new online pub established by yet another old journalism comrade. The result made us smile. Anyway, I hope you'll stop by the Beachland Ballroom sometime and wish Cindy a happy anniversary yourself. The person and the place are eminently worth the visit.

  1. Oh, I admire this couple. We need more venues like this. Pushing a rock up a hill might seem a mighty metaphor, but it can be done.

  2. Why does Carlo Wolff's name sound so familiar to me? Was he ever in broadcast?

  3. Not to my knowledge, Britta. But when you were working in Akron a decade ago, his byline was ubiquitous throughout the region, so that would account for its familiarity. His chief recurring subject has been music, but he also does lots of book reviews.

  5. I'm currently on location in the south of France, shooting a movie about my life as a young Polish immigrant, Kass. I'll be back soon, though.

Back in 2006 you blogged about Eileen Beal, who had served in the Peace Corps. I served with an Eileen Beal in Peace Corps Philippines in 1967...I believe she was from Oklahoma.
If this is the same Eileen Beal, I would love to contact her.

  13. Bill, sorry for the delay, but I did forward your note to your old friend (and mine) Eileen, and I believe you two are not back in touch. We've been happy to facilitate a number of such reunions here over the years. So thanks for that comment.
And dear Anonymous, I thank you for your plea. Just might take you up on it soon...

    Sigh.

You are deeply missed. I miss your insights, rants, humor, sarcasm, and all the delights of what you find of interest. I miss the forum of your friends and always hope that you and yours are all right, that you have plenty of interesting work, and that your life is so full of good things you just don't have time to blog.

I'm sure there are lots of us who still check for signs of your presence nearly every day . . .

  15. Taking note of an almost 6 month anniversary without your unique, creative, and thoughtful voice. You are surely missed.

Saw this and thought of you today
